IES Al-Lawra is a High School situated in Lora del Río, a town near Seville.

It's a bilingual school where students learn some of the subjects (Sciences, History, Music and Maths) in English and Spanish.
There is a second foreign language at the school: French. French lessons are compulsory for bilingual pupils but optional for the rest of the students.
In addition to the Bilingual Plan, IES Al-Lawra is participating in other educational projects:
- Occupational Health Plan
- Equality between men and women
- Improving quality and school performance.
- ICT School
Where are we?
Our school is located in Lora del Río, a town near Seville with a population of 20,000 people.
Due to the location of the school, we work with students from very different social backgrounds: some of our students come from a neighbourhood called Las Viñas, a socio-economically depressed area, and the rest come from the downtown area, where the social situation is conventional.
On the one hand, this situation is quite rewarding, because of the social and cultural diversity, but on the other hand, it may add some difficulties to the coexistence of students at school.
Despite these differences, there is a good atmosphere among our students in most of the cases.

Why are we involved in the Comenius Project?
The three core values of the project are:
- Cooperation
- Diversity
- ICT
These values define our school’s principles, and they can amplify the learning process of our pupils.
Our pupils are familiar with social diversity in their environment, but not with an international and cultural kind of diversity. This is a chance for them to be able to travel abroad, meet foreign people, work with them, speak English, and so on...
They will also improve their knowledge on ICT by working in the creation of a video, and they will extend their culture by watching and selecting European films.
Finally, it's important to say that the idea and final target of the project are really amazing and interesting for all of us, students as well as teachers.
